11th Meeting of Azerbaijan-Austria Intergovernmental Commission Concludes in Vienna

Vienna: The 11th meeting of the Joint Commission on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas between Azerbaijan and Austria was held in Vienna, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Austria, Florian Frauscher, welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation. Frauscher, who is also the Director General of the Department for Economic Affairs, Innovation, and International Policy of the Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy, and Tourism, stated that Azerbaijan and Austria are countries with developing economic and cultural relations, and there is potential to further expand cooperation in various fields.

At the meeting, Samir Mammadov, the co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Azerbaijan and Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, provided information on last year's macroeconomic indicators of Azerbaijan and the volume of trade turnover between the two countries. Mammadov also spoke about the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, noting that these areas are being rebuilt and have been declared a 'green energy' zone.

The Deputy Minister provided the Austrian side with detailed information about the work carried out in the fields of transport and digital development in Azerbaijan, as well as the measures taken to develop the Middle Corridor. Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Austria, Rovshan Sadigbeyli, highlighted Azerbaijan's leading role in the South Caucasus region and its economic potential, emphasizing that the Joint Commission is an important platform for expanding cooperation between the two sides.

Extensive discussions were held during the meeting on cooperation opportunities in the fields of mutual investments, industry, trade, agriculture, energy, transport, digital development and ICT, healthcare, culture, tourism, youth, and sports. The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the 11th meeting of the Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission was established based on the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Government of the Republic of Austria on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas', signed in Vienna on November 13, 1998.
