At least 1,400 visas to China have been issued for drivers from Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of 2023. Du Dewen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic, announced at a press conference on Thursday.
According to her, after the COVID-19 pandemic, trade between China and Kyrgyzstan has doubled. In addition, China has lifted coronavirus restrictions on travel. This increased the demand for visas.
«In 2019, we issued 2,500 driver visas for a year. This year we have already issued more than 1,400. If it goes on like this, by the end of May we will issue 2,500 visas. Since the trade turnover has doubled, we are psychologically and physically ready to issue 5,000 driver visas this year,» Du Dewen said.
