Unfavourable weather conditions during the growing season of winter crops had a serious negative impact on agriculture: only 901,000 hectares or 82.8% of 1,088,000 hectares sown for grain and green fodder last autumn remained unharmed until the end of the spring sowing period this year. In other words, according to the State Statistics Committee, 187,000 hectares of fields were destroyed before harvesting. According to the results of the final accounting of sown areas as of 1 July, the total sown area of autumn and spring crops, including sown areas of perennial grasses, sown in previous years for the harvest of 2023, was 1,546.700 hectares. This is down by 77.300 or 4.8% from 2022. The total sown area declined by 21.5% for agricultural enterprises and by 2.1% for individual entrepreneurs, family farms and subsidiary farms, the SSC specified. Grain and leguminous crops account for 958.900 hectares or 62% of the sown areas in the country, technical crops 114.000 hectares (7.4%), potatoes, vegetables and melons 127.900 hectares (8.3%). The remaining 345.900 hectares (22.3 per cent) are under fodder plants. According to the SSC, in 2022, 89.3% of the autumn planting area remained intact until the end of the spring planting period
