25th anniversary of Turkmen – Afghan diplomatic relations is a topic of the briefing with participation of personnel of foreign policy departments of two countries

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a briefing with participation of the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Nasir Ahmad Andish, representatives of diplomatic corps, national and foreign mass media.

Photo exhibition demonstrating important events in the history of bilateral cooperation was expanded at the small conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the briefing took place. Interstate dialog with Afghanistan, which one of the first recognized the independence and neutrality of our country, is developed in the spirit of good neighbourhood and constructive cooperation.

The participants highlighted that relations between Turkmen and Afghan people were filled with new content for all these years what is indicated by active political dialog on high level. There were 13 government, official and working visits of the heads of the states and talks were held, which resulted in important agreements.

Relying on the policy of positive neutrality, standing for peaceful settlement of the situation in neighbouring country, our state undertakes specific measures aimed at restoration of Afghan economy and social infrastructure. Turkmenistan proposes international initiatives aimed at strengthening of global peace, security and provision of sustainable development.

Construction of Turkmenistan � Afghanistan � Pakistan � India gas main, started on December 13, 2015, is one of these examples. Realization of this large energy project is summoned to bring prosperity to the peoples of every involved state and to the region in general, having turned into the kind of the bridge of beneficial cooperation.

The participants of the briefing noted that Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, located at favourable geostrategic position, have to play key role in activation of economic cooperation between the countries of the region. In this context, the stress was made on realization of long-tem international transport and communication projects. Opening of the part of Atamyrat � Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan) � Akina (Afghanistan) rail road on November 28, 2016 is one of successful examples of such cooperation. Perspective cooperation in construction of Afghanistan � Turkmenistan � Azerbaijan � Georgia � Turkey and Afghanistan � Turkmenistan � Kazakhstan rail roads is planned.

Fruitful contacts in humanitarian sphere were also mentioned during the briefing. Hundreds of Afghan young people study in high and secondary professional institutions of our country in accordance with bilateral agreements. For provision of support to fraternal Afghan people on systematic basis, Turkmenistan developed the programme of the complex of activities including construction of social facilities, opening of trade centre, supply of humanitarian cargoes, etc.

As is known, the development of multidimensional relations with close neighbours is one of the directions of foreign policy of Turkmenistan for the next 7 years. Speaking of this, the participants of the meeting expressed the confidence that steadfast Turkmen � Afghan dialog will would promote the consolidation of peace and stability in fraternal country. The speakers expressed their hope that friendly Turkmen � Afghan relations would be successfully developed for the interests of the people of both countries.

Evaluating constructive character of the meeting, Deputy Minsiter of foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Nasir Ahmas Andish noted - It is great pleasure for me to stay in Turkmen land and taking an opportunity I congratulate President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on re-election to the post of the Head of the State.

Current meeting is visual evidence of noticeably activated interstate relations, which trustful and constructive character is stipulated by centuries-old traditions of friendship and neighbourhood. Now, there are favourable tendencies for expansion of cooperation in economic, financial and other spheres. Transport and communication sector becomes an important aspect of Turkmen � Afghan cooperation. Bilateral cooperation in cultural, scientific, educational, art, tourism and sport fields are also important for us.

I would like to express the confidence that our multi aspect cooperation will be effectively developed acquiring integration character in regional coordinate system.

Our countries have huge potential for accumulation of beneficial relations in transport, trade, energy and other spheres, - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republi of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan Mirwais Nab highlighted during the conversation. � I am confident that Turkmen � Afghan interrelation will have constructive and trustful character developing for the sake of the peoples of two countries, peace and stability in the region.
