Drivers headed to and from future winter Olympic venues can soon look forward to a much shorter trip.
The second Yeongdong Expressway is set to open next Friday.
The four traffic lanes connect the city of Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province as well as the capital region with Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province, where the 2018 Winter games are set to be held.
The new highway will reduce drive time between Seoul to Pyeongchang by about 23 minutes. Soon, it will take just under an hour to make the trip.
Construction of the second Yeongdong Expressway started in late 2011, costing about one-point-six trillion won to complete.
