50 hospitals of Turkmenistan received equipment for a grant from Japan in the amount of $2.8 million

On March 30, the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan received the last batch of medical equipment for hospitals.

Transferred: two electrocardiographs, a medical autoclave, a mobile X-ray and gastroscopy and duodenoscopy systems, the UN office in Turkmenistan reports .

It was the second and last shipment of medical equipment under a $2.8 million Japanese grant project. The first batch entered the country in December 2021.

In total, the Ministry of Health received medical equipment for 50 hospitals across the country.

“I am confident that the project, coordinated with the Country Preparedness and Response Plan, as well as the Immediate Socio-Economic Response Plan for the Pandemic of Acute Infectious Diseases, will further strengthen the capacity of the national healthcare system,” said Dmitry Shlapachenko , UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan .

The project was implemented by the Office of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), which launched in June 2021. At the time, Freya von Groote , Director of the UNOPS Multi-Country Office in Austria, said that “thanks to the generous contribution of the Government of Japan, the unit is implementing a $2.8 million initiative by March 2022.” According to the data at that time, it was planned to supply medical equipment and materials, as well as train personnel in 15 hospitals.
