60% of the shares of the Bakharden clothing factory are going to be transferred to a private company

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on April 29, Deputy Prime Minister for Trade Charymyrat Gylydzhov spoke about the modernization and plans to transfer part of the Bakharden garment factory, which is currently wholly owned by the Ministry of Textile Industry, to private hands, the state information agency TDH reports .

Gylyjov proposed to transform the state-owned enterprise into an open joint-stock company and leave 40% of the shares to the Ministry, and transfer 60% to the private enterprise Gerçek ýigit, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UIET).

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, this will help improve product quality, expand its range, create new jobs, as well as increase production volumes and sales of manufactured goods in the domestic and foreign markets.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has not yet approved the proposal, saying that manufactured products must meet all quality and environmental standards, for which textile enterprises need to be equipped with advanced high-tech equipment and gave Gylyjov appropriate instructions.
