The development of Afghanistan was discussed on November 14 by Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special envoy for Afghanistan, who arrived in Ashgabat, and Vepa Khadzhiev , deputy foreign minister of Turkmenistan . This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Khadzhiev said that Turkmenistan considers peacebuilding in Afghanistan from the point of view of the unity of its three main directions: political, economic and social and humanitarian.
Turkmenistan stands for the development of a dialogue with the Taliban to maintain stability in Afghanistan, as well as for the involvement of a neighboring country in regional infrastructure projects.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan is actively promoting projects with the participation of Afghanistan: the TAPI gas pipeline and the TAP power transmission and fiber optic communication lines, as well as transport corridors.
The Turkmen side considers it necessary to hold consultations with Afghan officials on issues of ensuring security in the region, including issues of countering terrorism.
In addition, according to Khadzhiev, Turkmenistan will continue to provide regular support to the Afghan people. He did not specify whether he was talking about deliveries of humanitarian aid or other support.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan did not cite the proposals of the Chinese side. The websites of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy in Turkmenistan did not report on the meeting.
