Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, which was attended by some deputy prime ministers of the country, heads and representatives of a number of ministries, departments, public organizations and journalists.
One of the main topics of the meeting was the nomination for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List of several national monuments in the serial nomination "Silk Road: Zarafshan - Karakum Corridor", the Koytendag mountain ecosystem together with Uzbek colleagues.
It was also emphasized at the meeting that the documents on the creation of a UNESCO Chair in the country's universities have been prepared. In particular, it was noted that the Department of Cultural Heritage - from the Past to the Future will be opened at the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, and the Department of Environmental Literacy and Culture of Modern Youth will be opened at the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi.
In addition, during the meeting, such topical issues as strengthening the role of Turkmenistan in large structural divisions of UNESCO, expanding international scientific cooperation in digital projects and information exchange were touched upon.
