A pardon action is held in Turkmenistan in honor of the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence

In accordance with the principles of mercy and humanism, an action of pardoning a group of convicted Turkmen and foreign citizens is being held in Turkmenistan in honor of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed two relevant decrees at a government meeting.

According to the documents, 2,058 citizens of the country and 6 foreign citizens are exempted from further punishment. The head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of the State Security Council Chary Amanov, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to work to release the pardoned from prison in the very near future.
