A serviceman of the Azerbaijani army, Agayev Rufat Khanahmed oglu, killed as a result of careless use of weapons, the country's military department reported. According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, Agayev died "as a result of a shot fired due to a gross violation of the rules of handling weapons." In fact, an investigation is underway, the agency further noted.

According to the Caspian Defense Studies Institute (CDSI - Caspian Institute of Military Studies), in January-July 2023, the irretrievable losses of the sector and security of Azerbaijan amounted to 44 servicemen.

At the same time, 9 people died in combat conditions, the rest of the losses were not combat.
