The Office of the Mufti of Turkmenistan has announced an international tender for the construction of a mosque in the new administrative center of Akhal velayat. The corresponding announcement was placed in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" dated September 2.

Recall that the construction of the mosque became known during the inspection of the city under construction by the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on June 18.

Then the head of the State Committee for the construction of the center of Akhal velayat Deryageldi Orazov , "taking into account numerous wishes", made a proposal to build a mosque in the city. The ex-president approved the proposal and instructed that 5.5 thousand people could pray in the new mosque at the same time. “This will contribute to the strengthening of moral principles and a benevolent atmosphere in society,” the TDH wrote at the time.

During the inspection on June 25, the ex-president was shown the project of the mosque, which will be located on an area of 12.9 hectares. He "traditionally" made a number of comments and made his own corrections to the drafts.
