About 30 men are being held in a police detention center in the city of Turkmenabat, who are accused of homosexual relationships, Turkmen news reported .

According to the newspaper, among the detainees there is a well-known hairdresser and stylist in the city, as well as about 20 men, who, according to the police, were caught during group sex.

Detainees are reportedly beaten and tortured. Thus, confessions are beaten out of them and other homosexuals are forced to extradite.

The Criminal Code of Turkmenistan contains article 135 (sodomy), which provides for the imprisonment of men for voluntary homosexual relations for a period of two years.
