Acting Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Islamabad discussed TAPI with a Pakistani counterpart and the situation in Ukraine with a Kyrgyz

March 22-23 acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov was on a visit to Pakistan, where he took part in the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CMFA) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

On March 20, after the inauguration ceremony, the newly elected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree, according to which the resignation of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in full force was accepted. Until a new cabinet is elected, all ministers are acting.

In his speech, Meredov spoke about the results of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan and thanked the OIC for the support and active participation of observers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports .

Without disclosing details, the Foreign Ministry writes that the official also touched upon issues of supporting Afghanistan, developing partnerships in the field of international transport, and also informed about the conference of transport ministers of landlocked developing countries, which will be organized by the UN together with the government of Turkmenistan in August.

Meredov also held separate meetings with his colleagues. The implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline, power transmission lines and TAP fiber optic communication was discussed in detail with Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdum Shah Mahmood Qureshi . Meredov also noted the need to intensify the work of the Turkmen-Pakistani Joint Intergovernmental Commission, and suggested holding its next meeting this year in Islamabad.

Commenting on the meeting on his Twitter, Mahmoud Qureshi said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, and that the countries are "working closely to further strengthen extensive cooperation."

At the meeting with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha , they also discussed , the past elections and issues related to the participation of Turkmenistan in the activities of the OIC

During the meeting with Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev , Meredov discussed political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

More detailed information was provided by the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry. Thus, for the development of trade and economic cooperation, the Kyrgyz side proposed to expedite consideration of the issue of creating the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund and start its work this year.

The parties also discussed issues of international and regional security, including the situation around Ukraine . It should be noted that this is a topic that the Turkmen Foreign Ministry has never reported on since the outbreak of the war on February 24, and the state information agency TDH mentioned it only after the students were evacuated from Ukraine, explaining the evacuation by “difficult circumstances that have arisen in Ukraine”

At the meeting with Turkish colleague Mevlut Cavusoglu , "the effectiveness of the bilateral political and diplomatic dialogue between Turkmenistan and Turkey" was noted.
