On February 12, Acting President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov 1 received First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar , who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a government delegation, the state information agency TDH reports .
The meeting discussed cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. So, last year, in comparison with 2020, the trade turnover between the countries doubled , writes TDH, but does not indicate the exact figures.
The parties also discussed increasing the volume of mutual trade, stimulating investment activity and establishing close contacts between the business communities of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
The press service of the government of Kazakhstan briefly reported that issues of cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, agricultural, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
Roman Sklyar also held separate talks with Deputy Prime Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov (Deputy Prime Minister for Economic, Banking and International Financial Organizations), Shahym Abdrakhmanov (Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the oil and gas industry) and Chary Gylydzhov (Deputy Prime Minister for Trade) , "during which practical measures for further deepening economic cooperation were considered in detail."
The Turkmen Foreign Ministry writes that officials discussed the expansion of international and regional road, rail and sea transportation with the active involvement of the public and private sectors of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
In addition to the vice-premiers, the Kazakh vice-premier also met with the heads of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, including the khyakim of the Mary velayat.
The Turkmen and Kazakh state media emphasized that during all the negotiations, the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan on October 24-25, 2021 was discussed. Recall that at that time the main news was an agreement to increase the supply of Kazakh wheat to Turkmenistan.
Then the presidents of the two countries decided:
• speed up the signing of the Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments, as well as create a Special Border Trade Zone with an automobile cargo terminal on the border of the Mangistau region and the Balkan velayat;
• fully load the highways "Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran", for which it is necessary to optimize the tariff policy and improve the conditions of transportation in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to stimulate the growth of traffic volumes;
• jointly build a bridge across the Garabogaz Bay to launch a new highway in the direction of Kazakhstan.
