After the issue of TAPI financing is resolved, its construction will take 3-4 years

The process of building the TAPI gas pipeline may take 3-4 years after the issue of its financing is resolved, Pakistani Oil Minister Musadik Malik said . This is reported by The Nation.

Malik also mentioned the alternative TAPI gas pipeline project from Iran, which has also been talked about since the 2000s. According to the minister, its implementation is hampered by international sanctions against Iran.

Recall that Musadik Malik visited Turkmenistan in September this year and discussed the implementation of TAPI and the TAP fiber-optic communication line with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov . Details of the negotiations were not given.

In March 2022, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) suspended its participation in the gas pipeline project.

Responsibility for financing TAPI is divided among the participating countries as follows: Turkmenistan committed to finance 85% of the construction amount, and Afghanistan, Pakistan and India – 5% each.
