Ahead of Independence Day Berdymukhammedov pardons 815 prisoners

The state information agency TDH reports that on 24 September, 2020 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov signed a decree on issuing pardon to 812 Turkmen nationals and three foreign nationals. The pardon is timed to coincide with the 29th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, which will be celebrated on 27 September.

Khyakims of the velayats were instructed to provide employment for those pardoned.

Let us recall that this is the second pardon this year. In May 2020 Berdymukhamedov pardoned 1192 Turkmen nationals and 210 foreign nationals in honour of the holy night of Gadyr gijesi.

In 2019 a total of 4188 people were released from imprisonment through pardon.
