AIIB applauds cooperation level with Uzbekistan

SAMARKAND: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) highly values the level of cooperation with Uzbekistan, AIIB President, Chairman of the Board of Directors Jin Liqun said during the opening ceremony of the AIIB Annual Meeting in Samarkand today, Trend reports. "This year has been particularly significant for our bilateral relations, alongside your government's ambitious program for nation-building projects, such as new transport infrastructure, major investments in social infrastructure like hospitals and schools, and the boundless potential in renewable energy. I look forward to attracting public and private investments to Uzbekistan over the next five to ten years," he said. The head of the bank made it crystal clear that AIIB is all about bringing regions together to keep the wheels of global trade, technology, and capital turning smoothly. "This aids in pushing the envelope of human potential deeper into uncharted territory, particularly in a time of rising geopolitical tensions, escalating c limate turmoil, and development hiccups," he added. To note, the AIIB is hosting its first annual meeting of the Board of Governors in Central Asia on the theme "Building Resilient Infrastructure for All" on September 25-26, 2024, in Samarkand. Over two days, more than 25 panel discussions will take place, focusing on innovations in infrastructure financing, climate resilience, sustainable development, and the digital transformation of infrastructure projects.
