A telephone conversation took place between the current President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The Turkmen leader informed the head of Belarus that, according to the results of the presidential elections held on March 12, announced by the Central Election Commission of the country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new head of state. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that he intends to continue his work as chairman of the upper house of the Turkmen parliament – the Halk Maslakhaty (People’s Council) Milli Gengesh (National Council).
The current head of Turkmenistan thanked the President of the Republic of Belarus for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations and handed over the handset to the newly elected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Congratulating the elected head of Turkmenistan on his convincing victory in the elections, Alexander Lukashenko wished him success in his work at the highest state post.
Thanking for the congratulations, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his readiness to continue the course towards further strengthening the multifaceted partnership with the Republic of Belarus. During the conversation, it was noted that good traditions of friendship and cooperation have historically developed between the two countries, which meet the long-term interests of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Belarus.
