'Snap parliamentary elections are of paramount importance for Azerbaijan,' said Alexander Terentyev, head of the observation mission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, as he met with Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC). He reported that 598 international observers and over 112,000 local observers are monitoring the electoral process. To ensure transparency, webcams have been installed at 1,000 polling stations nationwide, allowing for direct and continuous online observation on Election Day without requiring registration. The CEC Chairman highlighted that a total of 6,421,960 voters are eligible to cast their ballots, with 990 candidates competing for parliamentary seats. 'Of this candidates, 305 were nominated by 25 political parties.' He further mentioned that 6,478 polling stations have been established across the country, including 6,343 permanent and 135 temporary ones. The CEC Chairman also noted that this election marks the first tim e parliamentary elections will be conducted across Azerbaijan's entire sovereign territory. He added that 54 polling stations have been set up in the liberated Azerbaijani territories to allow over 42,000 voters to exercise their constitutional rights. Alexander Terentyev expressed his satisfaction with participating in the observation of the snap elections to the Milli Majlis and emphasized that he would actively monitor the electoral processes.
