By commission of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A, Nurberdiyeva received the copies of credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan Mr Bert Schoof. On behalf of the Head of Turkmenistan, the leader of national parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to this responsible diplomatic post and wished success in consolidation of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belgium.
During the conversation, plenipotentiary representative of friendly country was introduced with priorities and main direction of internal and foreign policy pursued by the Head of Turkmen State.
Belgian diplomat was also informed on large-scale reforms undertaken in Turkmenistan, special focus was made on implementation of social programmes and projects, development of science and education as well as sport and healthy life style. Special mention was made to the importance that is paid to the development of regional infrastructure, in particular to construction of modern schools, hospitals, kindergartens, cultural, sport and recreational centres.
Speaking of versatile activity of national parliament, it was mentioned that its work is entirely aimed at legal provision of the reforms, which are to give new impulse to further steadfast development of the state and democratization of the society.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium highly appreciated the prospects of development of Turkmen � Belgian cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral format including under inter-Parliamentary relations, large international organizations, first of all with the UN and dynamically developing dialog with European Union countries, the cooperation with which is an important vector of foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan. In this context, Mr Schoof spoke about the Belgian support of international initiatives proposed by our country related to solution of global problems, especially to safe transit of energy carriers, protection and rational use of water resources, climate change, provision of ecological security, establishment of modern structure of transport and transit corridors, Aral crisis and others.
Fuel and energy spheres and agriculture were named among priority directions of Turkmen � Belgian cooperation. The expansion of the dialog in education and culture were also reviewed.
Previously, the delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan Bert Schoof was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Consolidation of beneficial bilateral long-term cooperation was the main subject of interested discussion.
During the trip to our country, the members of the delegation of friendly country also visited National Museum of Turkmen Carpet and looked around other places of interest of the capital
