On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of Mejlis G. Mammedova received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Turkmenistan, Nikolay Yankov.
On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the national parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished him success in strengthening the ties of friendship and enhancing cooperation between Turkmenistan and Bulgaria.
Thanking for the kind wishes, the Ambassador emphasized that he would apply every effort to develop the cooperation between Turkmenistan and Bulgaria in the name of the two countries.
During the meeting, the diplomat got acquainted with the priorities of the foreign-policy strategy and socially oriented internal policy, pursued by the President of Turkmenistan and the ambitious regional and national programmes and projects, implemented in the country.
The Ambassador was informed on the structure and the legislative activity of the Turkmen parliament.
The productivity of the further development of cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres was emphasized. Collaboration in the Turkmen oil and gas sector, in the field of construction, as well as in the scientific, educational and cultural spheres, sports and tourism were specified among the priority areas.
It was emphasized the mutual commitment to intensify the interstate dialogue in all areas. Special attention was paid to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Turkmenistan was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
