Gundogar with reference to Reuters reports that pursuant to the report by the UN Secretary- General Antonio Guterres, Turkmenistan is listed among 38 countries which carried out reprisals of residents for cooperating with international organizations, including the UN, on human rights.
These countries had carried out reprisals or intimidation against activists and representatives of independent media outlets through killings, torture and arbitrary arrests.
According to U.N. Secretary-General, Punishing individuals for cooperating with the United Nations is a shameful practice that everyone must do more to stamp out.
Along with Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Cameroon, Myanmar, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Russia and some other countries are listed in the report by Antonio Guterres.
Let us recall that President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov is scheduled to participate in the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Turkmen President last addressed the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in 2015.
