On 21 June a new aqua park was opened in the national recreational zone Avaza.
According to the state information agency TDH, a total floor space of the complex amounts to about 30 hectares. There are both outdoor and indoor swimming pools on the territory of aqua park.
The news outlet report that the central facility a 3 storey indoor aqua park, occupies over 41 thousand square meters.
It is reported that the project was implemented by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs but the project value has not been specified.
The President of Turkmenistan, who is spending his annual leave at the Caspian Sea Coast, did not attend the opening ceremony.
According to reports by readers of Chronicles of Turkmenistan, who are on holidays in Avaza, a few days before the opening rumours had been circulating that no entrance fee to aqua park will be charged during the first week (according to other sources, for 2 to 3 days only) and for this reason a lot of holiday-makers congregated ahead of the opening.
However, these reports have not been confirmed. A one-day adult ticket costs 120 manats ($34,3 using the official rate or $6,7 at the black market rate).
