Arayik Arutyunyan Asserts Health Issues Addressed Within Detention Center

Baku: “If there is a health issue, it is solved in the detention center,” Arayik Arutyunyan stated during today’s court hearing, APA reports. The defendant emphasized that neither he nor his lawyer had filed a petition for house arrest, and he expressed no concerns regarding his health. Arutyunyan also noted that he had not heard any health-related complaints from other defendants.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ongoing hearing concerns criminal charges related to crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, and other illegal acts attributed to Armenia and its armed forces. These accusations include aggressive warfare, genocide, forced population relocation, persecution, torture, and robbery. The case also involves the so-called “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,” established by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

During the trial, most defense lawyers sought to replace their clients’ preventive measures with house arrest. Defendants Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Melikset Pashayan, and Davit Allahverdiyan requested their motions be granted for release under house arrest. Other defendants deferred the decision to the court.

The next court session is scheduled for January 27, when decisions regarding these motions will be announced.
