Archbishop Theophylact thanked Meredov for favorable conditions for the work of the Russian Orthodox Church in Turkmenistan

On January 17, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Archbishop Theophylact , administrator of the parishes of the Patriarchal Deanery in Turkmenistan, the Foreign Ministry reports .

The parties discussed the development of bilateral humanitarian ties.

“Archbishop Theophylact expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the favorable conditions created for the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Turkmenistan,” the message says.

The trip to Turkmenistan of Archbishop Theophylact took place on January 13-17, according to the website of the Moscow Patriarchate. Within its framework, the bishop performed divine services in the churches of Turkmenabat, Bayramali, Mary, Tejen and Ashgabat.

In the city of Bayramali, Bishop Theophylact consecrated the restored parish house, which housed classes for groups for the study of Orthodoxy and Russian culture, in Turkmenabat - new bells for the belfry, and in Ashgabat baptized the daughter of Priest John Ukhobotov .
