Ashgabat 2017: New page in sport history of the continent

In September, Turkmen capital is to host Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games first in the region. Ashgabat 2017 Games, which slogan is Health. Inspiration. Friendship, became national mega project for popularization of healthy lifestyle, public physical training movement, development of sports of high achievements and expansion of international cooperation. The facts brightly indicate the uniqueness and scale of the competitions starting on September 17. This is the first time when Oceania countries joined Asian Games and number of participants reached 64. For the first time by the initiative of Turkmen Leader, the Programme of the Games included national wrestling Gyoresh and spectacular equestrian sports � show jumping.

Largest in the region multifunctional super equipped sport complex was built in Ashgabat. The Olympic village includes more than 30 different facilities where all the conditions for prestigious international tournament in various sports are made. For the first time, the beginning of the Games was forestalled by nation-wide popularization event � 500-day horse ride, which introduces historical, cultural and natural places of interest of the country, traditions and achievements of Turkmen people. For the first time, the monorail road will be the main transport in multifunctional sport cluster.

Instead of steel, the trains have rubber wheels, which hide the noise, jerks and the running is very smooth. Three trains will serve the Olympic village of the capital. The length of overall train is 25 meters. It consists of four modules for 75 passengers each. There are several stations along the route.

The height of the monorail varies from six to twenty meters and overall length of the line is more than 5000 meters. The road crosses twice Atatyurk Street by overpass bridges, 100 meters of length each, which harmonically merged into refined architecture of the capital.

The dominant of the Olympic village, the stadium for 45000 visitors, is a large construction of 50 meters in height and area of 145 000 square meters. There are arenas for martial arts competitions, Thai boxing and kickboxing, powerlifting, water sports complex, open swimming pool, indoor cycling tack, field and track complex, multifunctional sports complex, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, gyms, game sports and equestrian complexes among other facilities. Living complex for sports delegations, Sport and Olympia hotels, business and cultural centres, medical and rehabilitation centres and media centre, multi-level parking were built, adjoining territory is planned and greened.

The Olympic village is provided with equipment for informational and communication support and process control system from Spanish ATOS company. International test tournaments held in the sport complex of the Olympic village proved the readiness of all facilities, personnel and volunteers to V Asian Games.
