Ashgabat City will test KAMAZ electric buses

KAMAZ is negotiating the supply of its electric buses to Turkmenistan and the Gulf countries in 2022 for test operation. This is reported by TASS with reference to the general director of the company, Sergei Kogogin .

"There [in Turkmenistan]" Ashgabat City "is planned - the construction of a modern city, we are planning to make supplies for tests in Ashgabat too," the news agency quoted Kogogin as saying.

The general director of KAMAZ visited Turkmenistan in September during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence and discussed the expansion of partnership with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov .

A month later , Sergei Tkachenko , Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAMAZ PJSC, arrived in Turkmenistan to open the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat autobahn section and presented a new tractor model to the President. Berdymukhamedov immediately tested it and, judging by the response, was very pleased.

On November 10, Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov opened a training and service center for the repair and maintenance of KAMAZ vehicles in the Turkmenbashi etrap of the Balkan velayat.

Ashgabat City is a huge business center under construction to the north of Ashgabat, which, according to plans, will house more than 107 thousand people. Its construction began in May 2021. In October, the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov visited Turkmenistan , who, after a meeting with President Berdymukhamedov, said that they plan to build a metro in the Turkmen capital, which will connect the city with Ashgabat City.

In October 2020, Berdymukhamedov Sr. opened the Complex of Motor Transport Enterprises, where he was shown new taxis, city and tourist buses, as well as the Hyundai Elec City electric bus. Its further exploitation was not reported.
