Ashgabat closes down retail outlets previously approved by the city hall’s urban development plan

Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan report that on 13 June the owners of privatelyowned shops located in the basement facilities in residential districts of Mir1,2,3 and 4 received notifications from the khyakimlik's office to close down their retail outlets within two days.

In case the shops are not shut down, their owners will be confiscated of their property and their business license will be revoked.

Let us recall that in the summer of 2016 the Ashgabat mayor's office approved the universal requirements for the exterior of the buildings, including the entrance.

On 23 May 2019 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was discontent with the fact that retail outlets and office spaces in newlybuilt white marble buildings are not being used as intended.

This was followed by a largescale closure of stores and consumer services shops in Ashgabat since they fail to meet the urban development plan.

Dozens of retail outlet in Ashgabat's residential district of Khitrovka curtailed their operations.
