A meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) Milli Gengesh (National Council) of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the country's independence, was held in Ashgabat under the chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the meeting, the head of state made a keynote speech, who summed up the results of the country's socio-economic development over three decades of independent development.
According to the Turkmen leader, during this period, a solid foundation was laid for a democratic, legal and secular state. During this period, the Constitution of Turkmenistan was adopted, which determined the state structure. Also, the military, law enforcement agencies, national security agencies were reformed, the National Army was formed and the national currency was introduced into circulation.
Speaking about the economic development of the country, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the volume of investments in the economy of Turkmenistan over the past 30 years is over 200 billion US dollars. More than 60 percent of these funds were directed to the development of the industrial sector, and the share of foreign capital in their total amount is close to 15 percent.
Also, the head of state stressed that significant funds were allocated for the development of "human capital" - for science, education and healthcare.
He especially noted that at present, the country is building about 2.5 thousand large facilities with a total value of over 37 billion US dollars.
The head of state expressed confidence that Turkmenistan, relying on its neutral legal status, favorable geopolitical position, having rich reserves of raw materials, as well as powerful human potential, will soon turn into one of the industrially developed countries.
During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a number of decrees on awarding state awards to citizens who distinguished themselves in labor in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
In particular, the head of state announced the decision to award the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustemova the highest degree of distinction - the title of "Hero of Turkmenistan". As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, working for a long time in the structure of the country's Foreign Ministry, she made a great personal contribution to strengthening the sovereignty, constitutional order, state independence and permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
“Taking into account the outstanding services of Chinar Rustemova to the Motherland and the people, the successes achieved, as well as many years of hard and hard work, it was decided to award her the title of“ Hero of Turkmenistan ”and present the gold medal“ Altyn aý ”(Golden Moon),” the Turkmen leader said. To the applause of the meeting participants, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented Chynar Rustemova with the highest state award.
Then the head of state addressed the audience with a closing speech, saying that he had finished work on the next book, which he called "Independence is our happiness." The President noted that in the new book he strove to outline the role of the international legal status of a neutral state in solving key problems of our time. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed hope that the new work will be interesting and useful, as well as become a gift to readers for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
At the end of the meeting, a ceremony was held to present President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in accordance with the resolution of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh, the jubilee medal "To the 30th Anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan" and the commemorative sign of the national currency "Altyn saý" (Gold Coin). After that, the head of state presented commemorative medals and commemorative signs to the members of the government, the Chairman of the Mejlis and the Deputy Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.
