Baku: With the initiative and support of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, and based on a corresponding decision by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the 100th anniversary of the death of prominent ashig Alasgar has been included in UNESCO's 2026-2027 commemorative events program. The Secretary-General of Azerbaijan's National Commission for UNESCO, Seymur Fataliyev, announced this during a conference titled "Ancient texts and classical sources expose Armenian falsifications and fabrications, or ethno-geographic plots and provocations about Azerbaijani territories," APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Fataliyev noted that the inclusion of Alasgar's anniversary in UNESCO's commemorative program was discussed and subsequently approved during the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board held in April. He described this inclusion as one of the significant achievements, highlighting the cultural and historical importance of Ashig Alasgar to Azerbaijan and the broader region.
