Baku: Azerbaijan has reported a significant increase in its gas exports to Europe, marking a 9% rise in 2024. In the period from January to December of the previous year, 12.9 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas were exported to Europe, reflecting a 9.3% increase from the year before, as announced by Azerbaijan's Energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov, on his X account.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the data also highlighted that during the reported timeframe, Azerbaijan exported 9.9 bcm of gas to Trkiye and 2.4 bcm to Georgia. TANAP, the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline, was responsible for supplying Trkiye with 5.6 bcm of gas. Overall, gas sales abroad saw a growth of approximately 5.8% compared to 2023.
Azerbaijan began transporting gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on December 31, 2020, marking a strategic milestone in the country's energy export capabilities.
