Azerbaijan Constructs Over 3,000 km of Roads in Liberated Territories

Baku: Azerbaijan is advancing its road infrastructure with the construction of more than 3,000 kilometers of roads in its liberated territories. This development is part of the "I State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan," along with directives from the nation's leadership. The plan includes designing and constructing 45 highways, totaling 3,382.6 kilometers, to rejuvenate the region's road network.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the road projects have been classified into two categories based on their significance: 1,076.1 kilometers of roads are deemed of Republican importance, while the remaining 2,306.5 kilometers are categorized as local. Among the ongoing projects, seven highways, spanning 315.9 kilometers, have been fully completed. Additionally, a 24.2-kilometer section of the Shukurbayli-Jabrail-Hadrut highway has been partially finished.

The ongoing projects aim for completion by 2025-2026. Notable projects include the Ahmadbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway (81.7 km, 4 lanes), the Khudaferin-Gubadli-Lachin highway (70.4 km, 4 lanes), and the Horadiz-Jabrail-Zangilan-Aghband highway (123.6 km, 4-6 lanes). The construction plan also incorporates infrastructure works such as tunnels, bridges, and viaducts.

The State Program also encompasses the construction of internal roads within eight cities, including Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli, and others. The initiative covers approximately 52 kilometers in Shusha and 189.7 kilometers in Aghdam, among others.

In line with a presidential decree, construction is also progressing on eight village roads and six inter-district roads. These developments aim to enhance connectivity in regions such as the Jabrayil, Aghdam, and Gubadli districts.

The ongoing construction efforts include significant tunneling and bridging work, with 28 tunnels (59.6 km), 392 bridges (8,339.1 meters), and 9 viaducts (1,695 meters) already completed. The comprehensive road network aims to facilitate transportation and foster development in the liberated territories.
