Azerbaijan counts fully renovated historical monuments in Shusha

Nearly 20 historical monuments have been fully renovated in Shusha to date, Aydin Karimov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, said Trend's Karabakh bureau reports. He made the remark at the symposium 'Islamic Architectural Heritage of Shusha City' in the city today. "Within the framework of events dedicated to the year 'Shusha - Cultural Capital of the Islamic World 2024', a symposium titled 'Islamic Architectural Heritage of Shusha' commenced on October 11, 2024, organized by the Shusha State Historical and Architectural Reserve Administration with the support of ICESCO. Around 20 historical monuments have been fully renovated and are open to residents and visitors in Shusha. The construction of a new mosque in Dashalti village is nearing completion. The village is being completely redeveloped as a tourist area, with private investors already implementing a project covering about eight hectares," he mentioned. The special representative also discussed the work being done in the Turshsu settlement and the timeline for the return of former displaced persons. "Work is also ongoing in the Turshsu settlement, where the first 50 houses are being built according to the concept of a fully renovated village, and the main rural infrastructure has been completely restored and is under construction. There will also be a tourist area there, as the settlement is located in a very beautiful spot. The return of former displaced persons will be ensured there as early as next year," Karimov added.
