In 2020, Azerbaijan expects to pump at least 4 million tons of oil from Turkmenistan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. It was reported by Trend, quoted Elshad Nasirov, vice-president for marketing and investment of the SOCAR Azerbaijan State Company, in an interview with S & P Global Platts.
SOCAR transports Turkmen oil via tankers through the Caspian Sea, and then delivers it via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
Last year we transported about 4.2 million tons [of oil from Turkmenistan]. We expect that this year the figures will be lower, but in 2020 this figure will be at least four million tons, Nasirov said.
It should be noted that the decline in pumping Turkmen oil through the BTC oil pipeline is explained by the fact that Turkmenistan has resumed oil transit through Russia since 2019, using the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port.
