BAKU: Azerbaijan’s parliament has approved an increase in the subsistence minimum and the threshold of the need criterion to 285 manats for 2025, marking a more than 5.5 percent rise from the previous year, according to the latest legislative developments.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decision was formalized during a session of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan’s parliament, through the adoption of two draft laws: ‘On the subsistence minimum in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025’ and ‘On the threshold of the need criterion in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025.’ The subsistence minimum for the working-age population is set to rise to 305 manats, while pensioners and children will see their minimums set at 232 manats and 246 manats, respectively.
The increase reflects a change from the 2024 benchmarks, which stood at 287 manats for the working-age population, 222 manats for pensioners, and 235 manats for children. The draft law was put to a vote and successfully adopted in its third reading, signaling a continued effort by the Azerbaijani government to adjust living standards in response to economic conditions.
