Azerbaijan Initiates 21 Criminal Cases Related to Municipalities

Baku: Azerbaijan has launched 21 criminal cases concerning municipalities over the past year. Measures were taken under administrative control to ensure the efficient use of local budget funds, adherence to legislation, and transparency in managing municipal property, including land. The efforts also aimed to prevent conditions conducive to corruption and other violations. These findings were highlighted in the "Annual Report of the Body Responsible for Administrative Control over the Activities of Municipalities" for 2024, discussed at the Milli Majlis' (Parliament) Committee for Regional Affairs meeting, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, investigations revealed serious legal violations in 51 cases, with documents forwarded to the relevant investigative authorities for legal evaluation. A criminal case has been initiated for 21 of these cases.
