Azerbaijan Plans to Reopen Embassy in Syria Soon

Ankara: The operation of Azerbaijan's embassy in Syria will be restored as soon as possible, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov announced during a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted that Azerbaijan has not maintained any diplomatic representation in Syria since 2012, leading to the suspension of the embassy's operations. He emphasized that actions are being taken to reactivate the embassy's functions. Bayramov stated, "In coordination with our brotherly Trkiye, our delegation visited Syria, and meetings were held. We have expressed our interest in restoring our diplomatic representation and any activities necessary for its operation."

The Minister further clarified that the embassy would be restored as soon as possible, and in the initial phase, a temporary charg© d'affaires would be appointed to reestablish formal diplomatic ties.
