Baku: A large quantity of narcotic substances has been prevented from being smuggled into Azerbaijan, according to the State Border Service, APA reports. As part of the measures taken to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, an operation was conducted. As a result, 700 grams of opium and 13,616 narcotic pills (13,016 Pregabalin pills - 150, and 600 Methadone M-40 pills) were prevented from being smuggled into the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, an operation carried out jointly with the Yardimli District Police Department led to the detention of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Nabi Maharramov Zakir, born in 1984 and a resident of the Yevlakh district, was apprehended for attempting to illegally cross the state border from Iran to Azerbaijan.
Operational-investigative measures are ongoing.
