Baku: Azerbaijan has implemented a ban on the sale and import of a mislabeled Chinese medical product following the discovery of printing defects. The product in question, "Vacuum Blood Collection Needle (Butterfly) 23G," manufactured by China's "Shandong Qinkai Medical Industry Co. LTD," was found to have discrepancies in its packaging, specifically in the batch number 20230915, produced on September 15, 2023.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Analytical Expertise Center of the Ministry of Health identified a packaging defect where the expiration date was initially printed as September 14, 2023. This date was subsequently altered to September 14, 2028, using a sticker, raising concerns about the product's authenticity and safety.

The investigation was initiated following a citizen's complaint through media channels. In line with Clause 1.3 of the 'Rules for the Recall of Medicinal Products,' approved by Decision No. 460 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated November 27, 2019, the Analytical Expertise Center conducted a thorough review. Consequently, the specified batch of the product has been recalled, and its importation, along with wholesale and retail distribution within Azerbaijan, has been prohibited.
