Azerbaijan Sees 2.6% Increase in Electricity Production in Early 2023

Baku: Azerbaijan generated 10,762.7 million kWh of electricity from January to May this year, marking a 2.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee reported that 10,390.2 million kWh of this total electricity production was attributed to commercial output, reflecting a 2.5% increase year-on-year.

Thermal power plants were responsible for the largest share of electricity production, contributing 8,693.4 million kWh. This figure, however, represents a 1% decrease compared to the January-April 2024 period. The rest of the electricity production came from hydroelectric stations and other alternative and renewable energy sources.
