BAKU: The number of electric vehicles in Azerbaijan has increased by 60 percent in the first 9 months of this year, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Elmin Mammadov said at an event titled "Sustainable Transport for the Future," Trend reports. He drove home the point that putting the pedal to the metal on developing charging stations is a cornerstone to fuel this growth. "Currently, 184 charging stations have been installed across the country, marking significant progress in Azerbaijan's efforts to develop a sustainable transport sector. Digitalization is playing a crucial role in enhancing transport quality. As a nation committed to the Paris Agreement, we recognize the importance of taking concrete steps toward a more sustainable future. Notably, in the coming year, the railway fleet will be expanded with new trains, highlighting our commitment to modernization. The Azerbaijani government plans to implement initiatives focused on ensuring traffic safety, promoting the use of environment ally friendly vehicles, and pursuing additional sustainability projects," Mammadov said.
