Baku: Azerbaijan imported a total of 42,786 vehicles valued at $789.75 million from January to May 2025, as reported by APA citing the State Customs Committee. This marks a substantial increase in both the number and value of car imports compared to the same period in 2024.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the number of imported cars rose by 20.3%, or 7,216 units, from the previous year. The total value of these imports saw a 21.8% increase, equivalent to $141.29 million. The data highlights a notable rise in the importation of electric vehicles, which surged by 38.6% year-on-year, amounting to 767 units during the reporting period.
The increase in car imports reflects a growing demand in Azerbaijan, with electric vehicles showing a particularly sharp rise, indicating a shift towards more environmentally friendly transportation options.
