BAKU: Over 2.2 million passengers were transported by air from Azerbaijan to 37 countries from January through August 2024, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani State Tourism Agency's report. This represents an increase in travel to five countries, or 15.6 percent, and 32.1 percent more passengers compared to the same period last year. During these eight months, the largest number of passengers from Azerbaijan traveled to Russia, with 602,569 people, reflecting a 27 percent increase from the previous year. Russia is followed by Trkiye with 590,735 passengers (a 17.4 percent rise), UAE - 268,779 passengers (+37.7 percent), Georgia (132 839 passengers (+39.1 percent), Saudi Arabia - 84 609 passengers (+16.4 percent), India - 69 372 (+6.3 times), Kazakhstan - 61,953 passengers (+28.1 percent), Qatar - 41,768 passengers (+ two times), Italy - 41 325 passengers (+ two times), and Kuwait 34,229 passengers (+ 30.5 percent). India, Qatar, and Italy entered the top ten, leaving behind Uzbekistan (28,018 passengers, - 32.7 percent), Israel (25,902 passengers, -16.3 percent), and Germany (20,156 passengers, -14.1 percent). This August alone saw outflow of 396,955 passengers from Azerbaijan, marking a 23.8 percent growth compared to the same month last year.
