BAKU: New residential buildings will be constructed in Azerbaijan's Shusha, and the return of people will continue, Executive Director of the State Reserve Department of Shusha Tural Novruzov said during a panel discussion at the Caspian Construction Week, Trend reports. "In accordance with the 'Great Return' program, restoration and construction works are being carried out, and the resettlement of people to their homeland will continue," he pointed out. Novruzov added that work is also ongoing in the city to restore monuments. Following the liberation of its territories from Armenian occupation in 2020, Azerbaijan initiated the long-awaited 'Great Return' program, which envisions the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their native lands. So far, 823 individuals from 220 families have been given permanent housing in the city of Shusha. To recall, after the Armenian occupation and massacres in 1992, the survivor natives had taken up residence in a variety of temporary housing facilities acro ss the nation, including sanatoriums, pioneer camps, administrative buildings, incomplete structures, and dormitories.
