Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, as shared by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Azeri-Press News Agency (APA). This meeting, held on January 18, included both one-on-one discussions and an expanded session with delegations from both countries. The agenda focused on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the peace process with Armenia.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijani FM Bayramov and Turkish FM Fidan highlighted the depth of Azerbaijan-Trkiye relations, which have evolved into a strong alliance through the Shusha Declaration. The ministers praised the collaboration in various sectors, including politics, economy, energy, and security, as well as their successful trilateral and quadrilateral partnerships with other nations.
The ministers discussed Azerbaijan's full membership in the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Trkiye's involvement in the COP29 climate conference in Baku. They emphasized the significance of joint projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which bolster economic cooperation and mutual investments.
The discussions also covered humanitarian collaborations and strong cultural ties between the two countries. Minister Bayramov updated his Turkish counterpart on the peace negotiations with Armenia, pointing out challenges like Armenia's territorial claims and militarization.
The meeting concluded with a press conference where both ministers addressed media questions, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional concerns.
