Tirana: Azerbaijani citizen Elshan Vahid Salmanov has been detained in Albania for extradition in accordance with the European Convention on Extradition dated December 13, 1957. Salmanov was wanted internationally after being charged with repeated fraud and fleeing the investigation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a decision was made to involve Salmanov as an accused person, leading to his placement on the international wanted list. He was located and arrested in the city of Rinas, Albania, in October 2024.

Efforts are currently underway to ensure Salmanov's extradition to Azerbaijan. The Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated that cooperation with Albania in the field of extradition continues successfully.
