Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler makes semifinals of Paris Olympics

BAKU: Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Magomedkhan Magomedov has defeated his opponent in the 1/4 finals at the Summer Olympics in Paris, advancing to the semi-finals of the competition, Trend reports. The athlete, competing in the 97 kg weight category, defeated his opponent from Romania, Zbigniew Baranowski, with a score of 7:2 in the second bout. Previously, in the 1/8 finals, Magomedov defeated Luis Miguel Perez Sosa from the Dominican Republic with a score of 9:0. To note, the Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team in Paris, along with Magomedov, includes five wrestlers: Aliabbas Rzazade (57 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg), and Osman Nurmagomedov (86 kg), who did not secure medals; Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg), competing for third place; and Haji Aliyev (65 kg), who defeated Austin Klee Gomez from Mexico in the 1/8 finals with a score of 7:0 and will face Hungarian opponent Iszmail Muszukajev in the 1/4 finals.
