As stated in the press releases of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated 9 March and 2 June, from the day the information about Farid Safarli was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant work was carried out by both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General of our country in the city of Tabriz in order to learn about the fate and state of health of the citizen, that the Iranian side clarified the issue, to protect the citizen's judicial and procedural rights, as well as to provide him with a lawyer. Official appeals have been repeatedly made to the Iranian side and discussions have been held on a regular basis,” spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizade said as he responded to questions from local media on Azerbaijani citizen Farid Safarli’s arrest in Iran, APA reports.

“Work is currently underway for Farid Safarli's parent to visit him,” Aykhan Hajizade added.
