Azerbaijani MFA comments on on the allegations made by the French foreign minister in the Senate

We strongly condemn and reject the groundless allegations against Azerbaijan made by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, during her speech in the French Senate on October 11, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated that the claim made by the French minister, alleging that Azerbaijan plans for the voluntary settlement of Armenians leaving the Garabagh region without any coercion in Armenia, contradicts the opinions of international organizations, and even the statement of the Armenian Prime Minister dated September 21. This indicates France's interest in pursuing its biased and unrealistic policies.

It is unacceptable that France, which supported Armenia, the occupying party during its bloody colonization and mediation, is now talking about justice and international law.

France's call for a resolution against Azerbaijan now, despite not taking any steps over 27 years to ensure the implementation of the four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding the liberation of Azerbaijani territories, the unconditional, complete and immediate withdrawal of occupying forces, and the return of displaced persons to their homes, is a clear example of hypocrisy.

If, instead of baselessly advocating initiatives of the UN Security Council, over the past three years after the 44-day Patriotic War, the French side had taken the proper course of action by putting an end to illegal activities and ensuring the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from our territories, it would have been a genuine contribution to peace and security in the region.

We once again remind France that engaging in threats and pressure with Azerbaijan will yield no results, and such destructive actions must be stopped immediately.

All steps against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country will be strongly countered.
